Young Tycoons Business Challenge Internship
I received an email about an internship by Learn with Leaders. I got really excited because it was a chance for me to express myself while also improving myself. I will apply to this internship and see what I can do and what opportunities I receive. I hope it will be a great experience. However, I am scared that I will not be accepted or I will not have any free time to be able to participate in the meetings. But I am sure if I make my daily plans according to this internship, I will be successful.
Teaching French to My Classmate
I know that learning a language is salient in our not only academic but also social life. While I was studying, I heard that a friend of mine was trying to learn French via Duolingo. I am also aware of the fact that Duolingo is not perfect for teaching. Of course, it teaches the basics but not the real and raw language. I myself used Duolingo in my French journey and was not that much satisfied. I talked with my friend and she accepted my offer with gratitude. I am pretty excited however, there are some limitations to our lessons. We have many exams and university applications along with the national curriculum that we are following. I know it will be hard but it will be so much fun, we will improve each other and be beneficial. There are some specific quotes I adore about languages: "Knowledge of languages is the doorway to wisdom." Roger Bacon" Language is the blood of the soul into which thoughts run and out of which they grow." Oliver Wendell Holmes "Language is not a genetic gift, it is a social gift. Learning a new language is becoming a member of the club – the community of speakers of that language." Frank Smith "Learn a new language and get a new soul." Czech Proverb "A special kind of beauty exists which is born in language, of language, and for language." Gaston Bachelard "Learning is a treasure that will follow its owner everywhere." Chinese Proverb "One should not aim at being possible to understand but at being impossible to misunderstand." Marcus Fabius Quintilian "A mistake is to commit a misunderstanding." Bob Dylan. All of these quotes symbolize the importance of language and it helps an individual while being an international-minded person. Our teaching and learning journey will require a lot of planning but will be managed professionally I believe. We will focus on more international, global and ethical topics so that it will be easier for us to comment on many things.
NAMUN'21 Chair and USG
The main team of NAMUN asked me to become the USG of the committee IOC 1 day before the conference and asked me to become the chair of the committee on the 2nd day of the conference. I was shocked because I was not prepared for anything but I accepted because I wanted to challenge myself and did not want to disappoint them since I was also their doyen. I knew it would challenge me a lot but on the other hand, enhance my MUN skills.
Economy Seminar
The definition of economics is the state of a country or region in terms of the production and consumption of goods and services and the supply of money. I am familiar with this topic, I searched for some workshops which will enhance my knowledge. Little did I know was our school organising a workshop with some of the famous economists in Turkey who also worked in foreign countries. The main aim of this seminar is to teach the real face of the economy in Turkey which is now in bad conditions. I trust these people because they have had a lot of experiences with the economy and its relation with other nations. This seminar might be hard on me because even though I am familiar with economics, I have never analysed the situations detailly. But I will be with my friends so it will become easier to understand the terminology and topics.
NESIBE AYDIN MODEL UNITED NATIONS 2021 DOYEN
Nesibe Aydin Model United Nations is an internationally recognised prestigious conference, organised annually during December. Passion residing in ourselves coupled with the inherent notion of perfectionism present led NAMUN to be one of the most experienced and well organised MUN conferences in Turkey. Each year, we welcome hundreds of high school and college students to discuss and subsequently find conceivable solutions to our real-world problems in our seven committees. No building can remain standing without its skeleton and for NAMUN it's our hardworking academic and organisation teams keeping the organisation running. Our academic team, with our esteemed Secretary-General Idil Yuzbasioglu, her Deputy Secretary-General Mustafa Arda Teker, our precious Head of Academic Assistant Elif Mina Guler with her team, Zeynep Isik Erdem, Meltem Bilir, Deniz uz, our Head of Crisis Isil Nehir Aslan with her team Lara Irmak Korkmaz, Tuna Gazel and our Head of Journalist Canan Sahra Aydogan with her team Kayra Elif Ipek, Badel Bezirci worked tirelessly to bring you the best experience possible. You cannot run a MUN without someone meticulously controlling the show, and for this, we have to thank the organisation team with our esteemed director-general Bahar ELif Bulbul, her deputy director general Zehra Ergen, head of PR Emir Ormanoglu and Elif Yaren Celebi for their valuable contributions. Last but not least, our seniors Nil Hamavioglu (me) and Beril Kilic, even though they had a lot on their plates, they did not hesitate to help us and we also thank them. This is the description of the main team which was prepared at first. When they asked if I could help them or not, at first, I was scared but also wanted NAMUN to go without mistakes so I accepted. I am expecting a lot from this year's NAMUN because it is the 10th anniversary and it should mesmerize people. However, I am worried that it will be hard for me to help them along with my exams and essays and other senior jobs I have to overcome. But the idea of meeting new people, knowing more cultures, challenging myself is the key elements here.
Teaching Biology with Real-Life Examples to Future IBs
Last year, we did not have many opportunities to do experiments related to our topics such as gel electrophoresis or membrane transports. So this year, we went to the laboratory and did and examined many experiments. I personally believe that I learn the topics better when I explain them to some people and make them learn so that I learn. When our teacher said we will teach these to 8th graders who would like to study in the IB programme, I felt very happy and excited because there was an opportunity for me to not only improve myself but also widen my perspective whilst teaching the kids. For the next week, we will have a mind map that shows our experiment list and how we can do it. Even though I am excited, I am also scared because I might not have enough amount od lab experience just like my teacher but I will try my best and have a mind map myself. My expectations from this experience are really high and I hope to get along with children well. I know that I am with my friends and we will all be helping each other is the factor that calms me.
Creating IB Learner Profiles Poster
We were asked to design posters about learner profiles in the IB program in our visual arts classes. I liked the idea because there is an opportunity for me to express my painting skills along with integrating the profiles. Even though I am not that good at arts and do not take visual arts classes, I intended to aid my friends. It might be a little challenging since we have a limited time and we have to work really hard collaboratively. We will have a lot of planning and commitments. For example, we engaged maths with thinkers and communicators and visual arts with risk-takers and caring. We did not arrange everything but it will enhance our perspectives and research skills.
INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ORGANIZATION FOR WOMEN’S RIGHTS
International Students Organization For Women’s Rights was formed to raise awareness about gender equality and the importance of women’s rights, through youth involvement. Our aim is to provide students with the opportunity to take action for gender equality and help achieve women’s human rights worldwide through community changing projects. The organization is composed of three teams: communications team, creative team, and media team. Each team will have different responsibilities and functions within the organization.
The communications team will be responsible for managing social media platforms, public relations, contacting organizations, acceptance of new members, and coordination of the members. The creative team will be responsible for working on the creation and coordination of community changing projects that align with our mission. The media team will be responsible for creating content for our website and social media platforms, as well as constructing and managing our website. Once the applications are made, one applicant from each team will be elected as the leader. Each team member will be able to concentrate on a particular task of the team, in order to maintain the most efficient collaborative work while still encouraging the students to work in the field that they are interested in and passionate about. In addition, students are able to become a member of multiple teams if they are interested in each component of the organization. Everyone is welcome to join. We hope that you are interested and eager to join our organization! If you have any questions you can contact us via our email address or our phone number. A classmate of mine created and thought of this project whıch excited me. I will be helping women and also enhance my knowledge which is inspirational. But it may be hard since our exams are coming but I believe I will balance everything.
Language Night Animal Rights Short Video
There have been Language Nights organised by our school for years. This year our French Teacher informed us about her idea which was about animal rights. She wants us to take videos to show the importance of rights. I loved the idea because we do not always get a chance to express ourselves regarding animal rights. We will have categories and we will assign a student to each of the branches. I hope this goes well because my French pronunciation is not good as our teacher but I will try my best to not mispronounce the words and go with many practices. This will help me improve my French pronunciation so I am very happy to be a part of this video.
