1. Starting your own/ joining a club
This is an online photography club.
We as IB students in the Nesibe Aydın Schools have been having hard times coping with online education. Therefore we wanted to find a hobby to cure our boredom and enhance our creativity. As students who are taking visual arts classes, we learnt how to take and analyse photographs. We thought that learning these techniques were a great opportunity for us to not only improve our artistry but also an amazing way to strengthen our photography skills. With this new knowledge that we have acquired, we gained a new hobby. As friends, we thought about developing this hobby of ours and making it more productive. Therefore, we ought to open an online photography club and socialize with new people that share the same interest as us. In this club, our main aim is to exchange our knowledge and ideas for photographs. Twice a month there will be a new theme which will be decided according to the circumstances of the members. Each member will take three pictures that are appropriate and accurate for the theme that has been elected. The deadline for the pictures will be two weeks from the theme decision which will allow the member a significant amount of time to fully capture the moments. At the end of the month, the photographs that are taken by the members will be analysed at Zoom meetings. During the meetings, members will choose their best picture for the online exhibition. By doing these meetings we will gain new perceptions and perspectives about photography. With this online club, we will be reflective, knowledgeable, and communicative thinkers. We hope that many IB students will have alacrity in this project and take action. We will open our applications worldwide and talk about some common topics around the world and afterwards take their picture.
2. Preparing short videos
19th of May is a special day for our country. Because it is the day for the youth given by Atatürk. Our art teacher suggested us to make an animation for that day. My friends and I were excited because it was new for us and we would get a chance to know our history better. We will write a small script and then draw some things according to the scripts. I am a bit worried about the drawing part because my drawing especially in digital is not that good, but I will try my best to make my drawings perfect.
3. Participating/ organising MUNs
I love participating in MUN conferences and a friend of mine offered me to be a part of their conference as a committee board member as a USG (Under-Secretary-General). I accepted his offer which made me very happy because there was an opportunity for me to meet with new people, improve myself and my English writing skills whilst writing the study guide. I am a bit afraid because my exam dates are really close to the conference date but I planned the writing procedure of the study guide which is the hardest part of the conference. There will be participants from all around the world so this makes me excited too.
4. Writing blogs
When we first started searching for CAS ideas, there were numerous sites that suggested many ideas. However, it was pretty hard to adjust them according to the pandemic. My friend and I decided to open a blog and write possible CAS ideas for everyone. Since we are going to open the comments section, it will be an interactive blog. I hope we can help IB students who are stressed over this issue.
5. Attending workshops with(out) certificates
The topic of the workshop is: High school is an exciting yet hectic time in every student’s life. It can often get challenging to prioritize activities and find the apt way to balance passions and social life. In this workshop, Deffany will guide you to choose the activities that will enhance your high school experience and nudge you in the direction of success in applying for college as well as your future. Deffany will help you learn skills to organize yourself to accomplish your goals. She will also help you understand how to prioritize what is essential for your growth while keeping it in sync with your passion. Through this workshop, you will discover learning techniques that exist outside your traditional classrooms. I think this workshop will benefit me by enhancing my knowledge. Additionally, I will be hosting this session of the workshop which excites me. It might be a little challenging because there will be international participants and I may have to talk with them in different languages. However, I believe it will help me in my presentation skills and enhance my self-esteem. We will consider and analyse the presentation regarding the morals of each country.
6. Enrolling on online courses
We are in an ongoing pandemic which is hard for everyone. We should make a bad situation good for ourselves. If we do not, it will have a non-pleasing outcome. In the pandemic, I started learning how to think as art and how to improve my skills. I have always been interested in the arts and their history. I saw a course that Harvard University gives free of charge to those who are interested and keen to learn. I enrolled in this course to learn about the history of arts which will help me in my visual arts lessons. There are videos that I will watch for 6 weeks and taking notes and searching for the topics can improve my general knowledge.
7. Competing in competitions
I got a mail about an art competition about refugees with sports. At first, I was shocked because I did not know the reason for them while sending this email. However, on second thought I realised it would be great for me if I attended. My art is not that good but in the instructions, it says you do not have to be talented to be a part of this competition, if you are interested you are more than welcome. So I decided to give it a shot. I hope I will perform my best through my art journey.
8. Being a part of social organisations
International Students Organization For Women’s Rights was formed to raise awareness about gender equality and the importance of women’s rights, through youth involvement. Our aim is to provide students with the opportunity to take action for gender equality and help achieve women’s human rights worldwide through community changing projects. The organization is composed of three teams: communications team, creative team, and media team. Each team will have different responsibilities and functions within the organization.
The communications team will be responsible for managing social media platforms, public relations, contacting organizations, acceptance of new members, and coordination of the members. The creative team will be responsible for working on the creation and coordination of community changing projects that align with our mission. The media team will be responsible for creating content for our website and social media platforms, as well as constructing and managing our website. Once the applications are made, one applicant from each team will be elected as the leader. Each team member will be able to concentrate on a particular task of the team, in order to maintain the most efficient collaborative work while still encouraging the students to work in the field that they are interested in and passionate about. In addition, students are able to become a member of multiple teams if they are interested in each component of the organization. Everyone is welcome to join. We hope that you are interested and eager to join our organization! If you have any questions you can contact us via our email address or our phone number. A classmate of mine created and thought of this project whıch excited me. I will be helping women and also enhance my knowledge which is inspirational. But it may be hard since our exams are coming but I believe I will balance everything.

But it may be hard since our exams are coming but I believe I will balance everything. With this, we will be able to at least salute each other and have small conversations. I am a bit concerned since Korean has a different alphabet. However, I will try my best to learn.
10. Learning a whole new thing for yourself
Our main aim is to make children with cancer happy, our teacher gave the idea that we could make them presents and then give those to them as a present for the New Year. Therefore, since we wanted the presents to be special we started learning knitting to make dolls for them. Due to our busy schedule and some health issues, we could not complete them and give them as a New Year present.
